I need to just talk about something random that doesn’t involve any happenings (which is basically a category I use for stuff that happens) but I’m not sure if I can.

This is bearing in mind that we only found out about it last Thursday evening, we’re only playing two songs and our singer couldn’t making so we’re essentially borrowing someone else. If this is anything less than abysmal I’ll probably be happy, given that we’re going back tomorrow to do another two songs…
Fire! April 3, 2008
Posted by Sharny in : School, Scraps , add a commentAs I was coming home this morning (from school, I only have a lesson first period) I saw a fire engine going past, followed by a lot of smoke coming a house next to the train tracks. I don’t really know what had happened but a small crowd of pensioners had gathered to watch the team of firepeople (that’s the politically correct version fo sho) put it out. I couldn’t really tell what was going on but when I went back into school after lunch the fire was out and it looked a little charred but if you hadn’t seen the smoke or fire engine you probably wouldn’t realise.
This kind of event qualifies as high drama round here, fire is very exciting.
In other news I have a parents evening tonight, I don’t think it will be much use really, I think I can predict quite well what all my teachers will say but I won’t be there for very long anyhow.

Posted by Sharny in : Blogs, Internets, Scraps, Technology , add a commentI was kinda worried about the whole upgrade process, it’s not something I’ve done before and I figured something like this had the potential to be quite nasty but it seems to have gone off alright. I guess those crazy wordpress creating cats are still proving themselves to be kings of the blogging software platform (if that’s what you wanna call it).
I’ve got to say, the new dashboard does look rather spiffy (I think I may have slightly stolen that phrase, but it rocks so what the heck) and I’ve also installed a couple of plugins just for kicks. I’m probably not going to go about customizing the page as much as I did in the past, keep things a bit more minimalistic.
I should probably start making some WoW related posts soon since I said that I would and some more random bits of music stuff. I currently don’t have any working headphones so I’m deprived of entertainment whilst walking to and from school, such musical deprivation is teh suck.

Posted by Sharny in : Life, Music, Scraps , add a commentYes, Opium Toad is the name of our band. This post is kinda to see if google will finally index myspace.com/opiumtoad and opiumtoad.com but it acts as an announcement.
We have one song complete, a few covers we can play solidly and a lot more of our own material in the works. I’m pretty confident that we can get somewhere as I really like some of the stuff that we’ve got so far. Our completed song has been received well by everyone that has heard it (and no, it wasn’t just our family members). We may well have a couple of gigs lined up for the coming months, we’re gonna approach them with a sort of try our best but if it fails we don’t care very much if it fails as it is early days.
